Today we visited SALON MOON – a great Berlin Sunday salon where Moon Suk and her partner Ernst Becker invite up to 50 guests into their amazing apartment in Berlin-Charlottenburg. After being warmly welcome and drinking a glass of champagne, served by Moons son Valentino, a curious crowd explored the impressive venue, filled with Hundrets of books, flowers, fotos and artworks. As announced, at 3.30 pm the doorbell was silenced and everybody took a seat in the colourful living room on a collection of chairs and the huge leopard sofa, all arranged around the black Yamaha Grand decorated with a pink peony bouquet. Moderated by Ernst, who is as informed as humourus, soprano singer Moon and Russian piano wunderkind Nadeza Filippova started out with Robert Schumanns Im wunderschönen Monat Mai, Gabriel Faurés Ici-bas! and Gioachino Antonio Rossinis La Promessa. The three spring songs were followed by an soulful piano solo of Nadeza, interpreting three Préludes pour Piano by Claude Debussy. After the next moderation Moon connected her worlds by two religious songs – The Lord is my Shepard by Korean componist Na Woon-Young and the Gospel I Know Who Holds Tomorrow by his American collegue Ira Forest Stanphill. The finale were the Arietta Caro mio ben by Giuseppe Giordani, followed by Moon Suks favourite and famous aria Un bel di vedremo from Giacomo Puccinis tragical opera Madame Butterfly. All followed by a get-together with delicious Schwabian-Korean kitchen and excellent wine. The next salon will be an evening the 21st of June with Korean buffet and four amazing female musicians – if you are a lover of classical music and looking for something very special, check out SALON MOON soon.
